January 27, St. Louis:    "Evergreen," sort of sounds like an old song title (there is such a song). Here at NTrain it takes on a new meaning. The "Evergreen" project generates a "what if" scenario that places the program participants into a future Auxiliary. The participants at this year’s “Evergreen” have to ponder potential challenges of Auxiliary public education of the near future.

The program started with all of the participants, National and District leadership, meeting in one general assembly. The scenario was introduced with brief remarks by Commodore Fred Gates, Assistant National Commodore-Strategic Activity. COMO Gates introduced Ms. Linda Merryman, the program facilitator.

The participants all received a copy of the scenario prior to the meeting and they each were assigned to a specific breakout session. Ms. Merryman read the scenario and then directed all to their group breakout sessions, five in all.

Financial and recruiting ramifications came into play initially and that jump started the breakout sessions. The participants were eager to join in the discussions and patterns began to form each taking a serious note; building upon previous comments. Each breakout session had its own trained facilitator who directed the discussions and made notes on a flip chart for further review.

It was announced that the notes and recommendations of the breakout session would be compiled and shared with participants at a later date.
