DNACO-O Mark Simoni
DNACO-O Mark Simoni

DNACO-O Mark Simoni is the leading officer of the Operations Directorate that includes the Response & Prevention and Recreational Boating Safety groups. COMO Simoni is also the lead officer for the Atlantic-West area. Mark resides in Saginaw, Michigan with his wife Cheryl. He has served the Auxiliary for over 19 years and is a member of Flotilla 24-5, District 9-Central Region. His most immediate position was DCO of his District. Mark is an instructor, aids verifier, coxswain and qualification examiner; he has also qualified as a crew member on a Coast Guard 49 foot boat. He and his team of District 9-CR Auxiliarists competed in the 2008 International Search & Rescue (ISAR) competitions. The team captured the championship that year, the first and last time.

 

 


ANACO-RB Nick Tarlson
ANACO-RB Nick Tarlson

ANACO-RB Nicholas “Nick” Tarlson is the lead officer of the Education and Vessel Examination/RBS Program Visitation Departments. Nick resides in San Francisco, California with his wife Mauna Arnzen. They have three children. Nick has served the Auxiliary for over 12 years and is a member of Flotilla 12-1, District 11-Northern Region. He has served as Department Chief of the “A” Public Affairs and Marketing Department. Nick is active in Boy Scout operations. He recently attended the Boy Scout Jamboree at Fort A.P. Hill in Virginia. He owns a CPA firm in San Francisco. Nick will be departing his post as ANACO to assume his new role as a Division Commander.

 

 


DIR-E COMO David Maul
DIR-E COMO David Maul

COMO David L. Maul, DIR-E is responsible for the Education Department (E). David resides in Chattanooga, Tennessee with his wife Gayle. They have two children. COMO Maul has served the Auxiliary for over 12 years and is a member of Flotilla 16-6, District 8-Eastern Region. He served his District as DCO his term of office ending on 31 December 2010. He is a retired school principal.

DIR-V Lillian Haines

Ms. Lillian M. “Lil” Haines, DIR-V, is responsible for the Vessel Examination/Recreational Boating Safety and Marine Program Visitation Department (V). Lil resides in Wallingford, Connecticut with her husband Mark. She has served the Auxiliary for close to 30 years and is a member of Flotilla 24-1, District 1-Southern Region. She has served her District as the “V” officer for many years. She is one of the “new” faces on the National Board of Directors.

 

 


ANACO-RP David Elliot
ANACO-RP David Elliot

ANACO-RP David Elliot is the lead officer of the Response and Prevention Departments. Dave resides in New York City, New York with his wife Anne. He has served the Auxiliary for over 26 years and is a member of Flotilla 59, District 1-Southern Region. He has served as a District Captain. Dave is an active Auxiliary pilot, coxswain and radio operator. He won an Emmy award as a broadcast TV engineer/manager.

 

 


DIR-P Greg Kester
DIR-P Greg Kester

Mr. Greg Kester, DIR-P is responsible for the Prevention Department (P). Greg resides in Longmont, Colorado with his wife Karel. He has served the Auxiliary for over 24 years and is a member of Flotilla 16, District 8-Western Rivers Region. He previously served as the Deputy Director of the “M” Department. Greg manages the Trident Program and all Marine Safety and Environmental Professional Qualification Standards (PQS).

DIR-R Robert Shafer

Mr. Robert “Bob” Shafer, DIR-R is responsible for the Response Department (R). Bob resides in Grosse Ile, Michigan with his wife Susan. He has served the Auxiliary for over 12 years and is a member of Flotilla 18-1, District 9-Central Region. He recently served as the Deputy Director of the “O” Department. He has held many offices in the Auxiliary, including Commander of his home flotilla.
