84 year old Auxiliarist William (Bill) Garry has enrolled an unusual site into the Recreational Boating Safety (RBS) Visitor program.

While doing his aquatic exercises at the Virginia Beach, VA, Seatack Recreation Center, he noticed a copied version of the “Officer Snook” coloring book on display at the swimming pool. The pool's supervisor told Bill she had picked up the original at a boat show and used the Center's copier to make lots of copies. These were so popular with the children in the kiddie's learn to swim classes that the copy displayed was the last one available.

Bill identified himself as an Auxiliarist and showed up a couple of weeks later with 100 “Officer Snook” coloring books, an RBS decal and signed the Center up as an RBS Visitor facility.

Noticing a bunch of children's US Coast Guard approved life jackets hanging on the wall, he offered to give them a safety check.

Since the initial sign up event, Bill has made several trips and ensured that the Center does not run out of coloring books. He has also safety checked the PFD's and other life saving devices, all during his two weekly water therapy sessions.
