Auxiliarist Deafenbaugh plays taps at funeral.

Auxiliarist Paul W. Deafenbaugh, Jr. (Thomas Point Flotilla 23-5, D5-SR) played taps at the funeral of fellow Auxiliarist Lawrence C. Mawn (Annapolis Flotilla 23-1, D5-SR) on Monday, January 9, 2012 in Annapolis, Maryland.

Auxiliarist Mawn joined the Coast Guard Auxiliary in 1984, and was an active public education instructor.  He held four different flotilla staff positions with emphasis on marine safety and environmental protection.

Auxiliarist Mawn served twice as his Flotilla’s Commander, and achieved the prestigious AUXOP status.

Bugler, Auxiliarist Deafenbaugh serves in the US Coast Guard Honor Guard, and plays taps at many Coast Guard funerals at Arlington National Cemetery.  He is a past Flotilla Commander, an Auxiliary Chef (AUXCHEF).

He performs with the Coast Guard Band, and was selected to play taps at the dedication of the Coast Guard Memorial in Pearl Harbor.
