MONTEREY, California - The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary’s District 11-North conducted its 2012 "D-Train Major Training Event" at the Portola Plaza Hotel in Monterey, California from Friday, March 16 through to Sunday, March 18, 2012.

Over 300 Coast Guard Auxiliarists and their families from Northern California, Nevada and Utah attended the training.  The Monterey Bay Division which operates closely with U.S. Coast Guard Station, Monterey hosted this event.

The Mayor of the City of Monterey, Mayor Chuck DelaSalla, opened the Training on Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m., and Congressman Sam Farr was the honored speaker at the Awards Banquet at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday evening.

As you can see from the accompanying photos, our "fourth cornerstone," fellowship, filled the time between the training sessions.

The newspaper of record for Monterey County, the Herald, published a front page story on the event. The reporter of the article was Mr. Dennis Taylor.  He is very supportive of our Auxiliary activities and the military in general.  His stepson is a US Army Captain who served in Afghanistan.
